Presentation of Eshwaramma Puraskar
In a tradition started by the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations, Mahila vibhag, Karnataka, in October, 2010, blessed and encouraged by our beloved Bhagawan to continue this tradition year after year, this year too, the much awaited Eshwaramma Puraskar ceremony was conducted with pomp and grandeur, to celebrate womanhood and all that she stands for. It was a state level event and had participants from all over the state, and also from the three wings. The highlights of the day’s program encompassed the presentation of the coveted Eshwaramma Puraskar award, and other memorable events to commemorate this joyous occasion.

The day began auspiciously by welcoming Bhagawan in Pallaki with the Poorna Kumbha procession which embraced all the traditional elements of festivity such as Nadaswara, an All Girls Bal vikas band, Kalasa, Veera gaase dance – a rustic flavour of Karnataka, Veda chanting, and Nagar sankirtan.

The Ladies day program commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, as the devotees lost themselves in the divine chanting of ‘Asatoma Sadgamaya’.

Smt. Nina Mallik gave the welcome address.

Smt. Nirmala Murthy spoke about the significance, conceptualization and actualization of the ESHWARAMMA PURASKAR, and reiterated the strong belief our beloved Bhagawan emphasized, that women are the strong pillars of our society, and that it is our duty to uphold that faith, the teachings that He has bestowed on us, and to become glorious symbols of Strong and Ideal womanhood ourselves.

Smt. Sucharitha, State Co ordinator , Education Wing, Balavikas,Sri Satya Sai seva Organisation, Mahila Vibhag spoke about Smt. Rukmini Krishnaswamy, the recipient of the Eshwaramma Puraskar, and Smt.Vidya Srinivasan, the presenter.

Smt. Rukmini Krishnaswamy is the Director of the Spastic Society of Karnataka. In her previous offices, she has been the Head of Teacher Education at Sofia School, Mumbai, and has also been incharge of the Special Education Unit. She took over the Spastics Society of Karnataka, when it was a small establishment, with just 32 children, and inadequate infrastructure. Today, under her able leadership, the Society has grown manifold, setting a perfect example for other similar institutions.

Smt. Rukmini firmly believes that the parents' role is a vital ingredient in the progression of various rehabilitation programs and overall development of their child. In her own words, “If there's only one gift anyone can give these children, then give them something to kick-start their enthusiasm. All these kids need is a little help, a little hope and somebody who believes in them.” Smt. Vidya Srinivasan is the National coordinator – Education wing, particularly Bal Vikas of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations, Mahila Vibhag at the all India level. She is an example of humility and modesty.

Smt.Vidya Srinivasan presented the Eshwaramma Puraskar award to Smt. Rukmini Krishnaswamy.

The award was well-deserved indeed, and a reminder to each one of us, that we all need to uphold the glorious symbol of strong and ideal womanhood by working towards the better cause of our entire society.

Smt. Saroja Krishna murthy and Smt Shobha Gopal chosen speakers for the day spoke about woman empowerment.

After the keynote addresses by the speakers, the day moved on to a delightful musical program, presented by the youth group. They enthralled the audience with multilingual songs and delivered a captivating performance.

After the youth group performance, we distributed sewing machines, as a prasadam from Bhagawan himself, to the girl students of Sri Sathya Sai schools across Karnataka - as a part of the Vocational training imparted at the school levels. This was also one of our many initiatives in empowering women, and to equip them with the necessary tools of self-development and growth, which Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba strongly believed in.

Smt Vimala Shyam, State coordinator, spiritual wing, Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations, Mahila Vibhag, presented the vote of thanks.

MahaMangalarathi was performed to Swami by Smt Vimala Shyam and Smt Padma Arun (Jt, State, coordinator, spiritual wing, Sri Sathya Sai Seva organizations, Mahila Vibhag)
The Eshwaramma Puraskar day was a magnificent and enlightening experience. The feminine is the foundation on which a peaceful and happy world is to be raised. When women are true and brave, kind and compassionate, virtuous and pious, the world can have an era of peace and joy.

An Humble offering at the Lotus feet Of Our Beloved Bhagawan.
