SRI SATHYA SAI SEA ORGANISATIONS, TAMILNADU
With the Divine blessings and grace of Bhagawan Sri sathya sai Baba Varu, the Past balvikas students' convention was held at German hall, T.Nagar,Chennai on 30th May 2010 which was attended by 595 Ex-Balvikas students consisting of 307 males and 288 females. The function began with flag hoisting by Mr.N.S.Venkatesan, a senior member of the organization and Mr.Ramanan who was one of the senior most Gurus. This was followed by Bhajans by Ex-Balvikas students.Mrs.Soundarya Krishnamoorthy, the state Spiritual Coordinator lighted the lamp of love and balvikas children did Veda chanting. Ms.Ramadevi while welcoming the audience explained the various avenues of service available for the ex-students to choose. The theme song on Sai's mission was sung by Ex-balvikas students. There was a video presentation in which the celebrities of Balvikas alumni Viz; Mr. Ramasubramamniam, Judge, Chennai High court, Mr.Saikumar, I.A.S, Mr.Niranjan, Advocate, Chennai High court, Mrs.Sumana M.A;M.Phil; Mr.Suresh Kumar, Entrepreneur and Mr.Meenakshisundaram, manager, Sundaram finanace spoke on the uniqueness of balvikas programme, benefits and impact of Balvikas on their personal and professional life. Mr.V.Srinivasan, AIP elaborated the efforts taken for maintaining the archive and called upon the alumni to work for it at samithy level. Later he dwelt upon the National Narayana seva programme and creating centers of excellence in schools and invited their participation for its successful implementation. Mrs.Vidya Srinivasan while quoting her personal experience with Bhagawan said that Swami held an opinion that Gurus were more knowledgeable than parents. According to her, the alumni members owe their knowledge to Gurus who teach selflessly. Mr.S.P. Ram, father of a Balvikas child said that balvikas has brought about a great transformation right from the beginning in keeping the slippers in order in the veranda to learning and singing Bhajan songs with perfection. The parent said that they too learnt a lot from their son. Mr.Karuppaiah a guru from Erode narrated his experience as balvikas student and Balvikas guru.

Mr.Sarath Babu a Rural bavikas (Ex-Student) said how he suffered from poverty and slum life in his childhood. It was balvikas guru who used to feed him and other children on full moon days with delicious food items. He learnt discipline and hard work from the guru. He loved his mother after hearing about Swami's love for his mother. All these helped him to acquire his M.B.A degree from IIM Ahmedabad. Though he was offered jobs from reputed companies he started his business with a meager sum of Rs.2000. Now his annual turnover is Rs.8-10 Crores. But he wants to create 10 lakh job opportunities and spends time for the uplift of the poor through general counseling and career counseling. To him serving poor is more important than earning wealth.

Mr.Shyam kumar highlighted the multi dimensional growth of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation. He wanted them to take a journey from the status of active person to active thinker and then to active worker. He requested the members to prioritize their needs to accommodate their time for sai service. The innovative programme of Bhajan vikas, giving specialized training in voice culture with a background of maintaining spiritual diary was introduced and completed for the first time for balvikas children of Kancheepuram(north) and this was explained by Mr.Anand. Along with him, Mr.Shyam Kumar elaborated the veda vikas programme organized by him to teach veda for Balvikas children.

Dr.Ram Manohar Rao, National Coordinator, SSSVIP gave a presentation of techno group activities available for participation by alumni members. Mr.Thyagarajan State Coordinator for Prashanthi service gave a detailed sketch of disaster management training programme available for the alumni members.

The Balvikas boys of Kancheepuram and Chennai Metro districts gave an enthralling musical programme. Many of the Ex-Balvikas students expressed their desire to learn musical instruments after seeing small children playing violin, Mrudangam and Ghatam.

In the afternoon there were group discussions separately for males and females. The entire mahilas were divided in to 8 groups to discuss the following topics.
  1. Mobilising and sustaining Balavikas
  2. Resource Persons
  3. Event Management
  4. Cultural Activities
  5. Prashanti Seva and other service activities
  6. Skill Schools
  7. Veda, Bhajan and Study Circle
  8. Grama Seva and SSSVIP
The Gents members were divided in to 9 groups to discuss the following topics
  1. System for leadership
  2. Participation in organizational activities
  3. District\State level Meet
  4. Supportive role
  5. Bala vikas in every pincode
  6. Database-Unique ID
  7. E.Newsletter
  8. Educational\career guidance
  9. Special Resources
These groups were guided by moderators to come out with suggestions as to how they are going to involve in these programmes. All the members assured to participate in sai activities in future.

The response was overwhelming and each one wanted to involve themselves in the organizational activities. The participants wanted to reach out the absentees of this conference in order to make them participate more actively in the organization .All of them wanted to go to Parthy every year as alumni members to express their gratitude to Bhagawan. One Ex-Balvikas student by name Mr.Ramesh who is a CEO of "Sathya Components" has promised to give jobs immediately for five alumni students who are presently jobless.

Mr.Mohan, Trust Convenor in his valedictory address explained how fortunate the ex- balvikas students trained by the Grace of Bhagawan and motivated them to do seva wherever they are and in whatever capacity they can. From the group discussion emer ged an action plan which is given below.

The alumni members came forward to
  1. involving in the preparation of teaching aids, ppts for balvikas topics and animation of Balvikas stories
  2. do event management at samithy level and district level
  3. assist balvikas gurus in bring back the dropouts to join in the balvikas and make Exbalvikas to join in the organisation
  4. Participate in prashanthi seva
  5. impart skills to village women and economically backward people
  6. participate in sadhana camp and other localized service activities and national narayana seva programme
  7. conduct bhajans in houses where the members are unable to go to samithy
  8. start balvikas centers in each area(pincode)
The former Balvikas students took the following pledge:

"WE THE PAST BALVIKAS STUDENTS OF TAMILANDU, UNDERSTAND THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PRIVILEGE BESTOWED UPON US, BY OUR BELOVED BHAGAWAN, BY CHOOSING US TO BE PART OF HIS DIVINE MISSION.WE PLEDGE THAT WE WILL PLAY OUR ROLE TO PERFECTION, AND IN THE PROCESS, GO CLOSER AND CLOSER TOWARDS HIS VISION, AS THE YEARS ROLL BY, SWAMI, WE PRAY THAT YOU GUIDE US IN THIS JOURNEY OF LOVE"-SAIRAM

Finally the state President in his concluding remarks pointed out that he was very proud parent of three children who were all balvikas children. They learnt everything from their gurus and hence balvikas made parenting easy. Balvikas course is like Open University programme. But no university has 9 year programme like Balvikas.
