Arise Awake!
On 12th January 1863 was born Narendranath Dutta who transformed himself into Swami Vivekananda, an ideal son of this glorious country Bharath. In honour of this illustrious son of India, his birth anniversary is celebrated as the National Youth Day.

Physical growth alone is not a sign of real youth. Swami Vivekananda said,"Arise, Awake, for your country needs this tremendous sacrifice. It is the young men that will do it. The young, the energetic, the strong, the well - built, the intellectual, for them is the task." He believed that the development of these qualities will certainly transform the so - called youth into real youth and then alone they will be able to break all barriers that hamper their progress. Swami Vivekananda wanted the youth of this country to be like lions.

It is for the youth to rebuild the nation. The minds of the modern youth are becoming storehouses of multiple complexes, such as fear complex, ego complex, inferiority complex etc. All such negative emotions are making the lives playgrounds for all types of vices. Exposure to positive methods of learning is the only salve. Swami Vivekananda suggested the type of education that is required today. He said, "We want that education by which character is formed, strength of mind increased, the intellect is expanded and by which one can stand on one's own feet."

In this changing scenario modern youth are facing enormous problems. Everyone wants them to be the best in every field. Pressure is mounting on them day by day. To face these challenges it is obvious that the youth need to equip themselves with superhuman strength. According to Swami Vivekananda, "All power is within you; you can do anything and everything. Believe in that; do not believe that you are weak. Stand up and express the divinity within you."

"Strength is life, weakness is death."
- - Swami Vivekananda

Neither money pays, nor name, nor fame, nor learning; it is character that can cleave through adamantine walls of difficulties. Unfortunately, due to lack of character energy, we have converted human beings into machines with vacuum in their hearts. Youth according to Swami Vivekananda must develop tremendous will - power to resist these evils. They must develop moral strength to fight against the degradation of human values.

"My hope of the future lies in the youth of character - intelligent, renouncing all for the service of others, and obedient - who can sacrifice their lives in working out for the upholding of human values and thereby do good to themselves and the country at large."
- - Swami Vivekananda

Arise, Awake, and stop not till the goal is reached! Awake to rise, rise to long, long to achieve and achieve to fulfill.
