Group III Balvikas - State Level Master Trainers' Training Programme, 16th - 18th September 2011
The State level Master Trainers' Training programme for Group III was successfully conducted at the AKR Mahal, Virugambakkam on the 16th, 17th and 18th September 2011.

The programme commenced with flag hoisting followed by Bhajans by the Balvikas Gurus. Mrs. Vidya Srinivasan, Joint National Educational Coordinator, then lit the kutthuvilakku amidst Veda chanting by Balvikas boys. The State Educational Coordinator Dr.Ramadevi, in her welcome address congratulated all the gurus of Tamil Nadu for successful and timely completion of Gurus training - phase I and II and said that she expected the same result for the Group III training programme too. This was followed by the State President, Mr Ramani's address. He said that the role of gurus was very important and significant in our organization since the Balvikas children are future torch bearers of the organization. He also assured support from the entire organization, including the State President, District President and Samithi Convenors for the smooth conduct of Balvikas classes.

Next on the agenda was the address on motivation and role of Guru from mentoring angle, by Mrs. Vidya Srinivasan, the joint National Educational Coordinator. She reiterated the role of Gurus as a mentor and gave tips on being a good mentor. She recalled with great fervor, how Swami Himself personally had blessed this Group III Balvikas Training Programme. This was followed by the address of the District president, Chennai Metro West who expressed gratitude to Bhagavan for having blessed the District with this wonderful opportunity of organizing this three day programme. A total of 76 Balvikas Gurus (17 gents and 59 mahilas) from various districts of Tamil Nadu attended the training programme.

The lives of Shri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Swami Vivekananda, Ramana Maharishi, Manikkavachagar and Nammazhvar were dealt in detail. Their profound philosophies were explained in simple and lucid language. The relevance of Bhagavad Gita in day to day life was handled beautifully with interesting anecdotes from Swami's life and these sessions were thoroughly enjoyed by the participants. There was an inspiring talk by Mr. Vijay Menon on Sri Sathya Sai Balvikas - an instrument of Transformation. The examples given by the speaker were relevant for arousing social consciousness in Group III Balvikas children.

Ideals of Sri Sathya Sai Education, Habit of Saving, Indian culture and spirituality and Integrated personality development were handled in a very structured manner making it easy for the gurus to understand and implement in the group III classes. Enthusiastic learning was witnessed during the Veda session when the group III syllabus was taught clearly and patiently. The lives of freedom fighters were handled from patriotic as well as spiritual angle with many songs composed by Bharathiar interspersed in between, evoking excited response from the participants. Management of thought, breath and time was dealt in an interesting manner with activities and interactions. Family participation and Parenting with relevance to teenagers (group III children) and Samskruthi of different religions were handled effectively.

The participants showed enthusiasm and also presented various innovative techniques for handling the group III classes. The reporting and evaluation methods with respect to Project cards, projects, spiritual diary etc were explained in detail and doubts in these areas were also clarified. The proposed system of projects and evaluation methods which will be effective from 2015 was also explained in detail.

The State Educational Co-ordinator directed the Master Trainers to chalk out the details of their respective Zone/ District -wise training programmes such that all the Balvikas Gurus of Tamilnadu are fully trained in Group III syllabus and procedures and take forward the benefits of this training to their individual Group III classes.
